MAE Warns Romanians in Greece About Wildfire Risk Zones

The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) has issued a warning to Romanian citizens currently in, transiting, or planning to travel to Greece regarding a high risk of vegetation fires. Greek authorities have alerted several regions to the elevated danger, particularly for Wednesday, July 22, due to forecast high temperatures.

The affected areas include Attica, Central Greece (specifically Boeotia and Fthiotida), and Peloponnese (Argolida and Corinth). The MAE advises Romanian citizens to exercise caution and adhere to instructions provided by local authorities.

In case of emergencies, Romanians in Greece can contact the Fire Service at 199. Updated information on fire developments and self-protection recommendations is available on the website of Greece's Ministry of Civil Protection and Climate Crisis. The MAE also reminds citizens that consular assistance is available through the Romanian Embassy in Athens and the Consulate General in Thessaloniki, with calls redirected to the Contact and Support Center for Romanians Abroad.

The ministry recommends consulting travel information on its official website and using the "Călătorești informat" application, which provides alerts and guidance for Romanians abroad. The warning highlights the potential dangers posed by the current weather conditions in Greece.
