Magnitude 2.5 earthquake felt in Haenam, South Korea; no damage reported

A magnitude 2.5 earthquake was detected on June 25 at 9:41:22 AM, with its epicenter located approximately 21 kilometers northwest of Haenam County in South Jeolla Province, South Korea. The tremor occurred at a depth of 21 kilometers.

The intensity of the earthquake was measured at III on the seismic intensity scale. This means the shaking was noticeable to people on the upper floors of buildings and could cause slight trembling of stationary vehicles. Despite the noticeable shaking, the fire department has not received any reports of damage or injuries related to the earthquake as of 9:50 AM.

This seismic event is part of a series of tremors that have affected the Haenam region. Since June 14, a total of eight earthquakes with magnitudes between 2.0 and 3.0 have been recorded in the area. Additionally, 70 smaller earthquakes, below magnitude 2.0, have also occurred during the same period.

In response to the ongoing seismic activity, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety elevated the crisis alert level for the region to "Advisory" on June 23. This proactive measure aims to ensure preparedness and facilitate a swift response should the situation escalate.
