MAHA 2026 to drive RM8 billion in MoUs

The upcoming Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Show (MAHA) 2026 is poised to be a significant event, with expectations of signing Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) valued at RM8 billion. These agreements will span various sectors, including vehicles, technology, and food management, fostering collaborations between local and international companies.

Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, highlighted that this year's MAHA will place a strong emphasis on innovation and the modernization of the agricultural sector. The event is also set to witness a notable increase in international exhibitor participation, with new entrants from African and Central Asian countries joining established participants from China, Britain, Japan, and the United States.

"They also want to be part of MAHA and see technological developments, especially in agriculture, so that we can share that technology among other countries," Mohamad told reporters. He emphasized that the focus on innovation and technology is crucial, particularly as food security has become a paramount agenda globally. The minister stressed the need for collective efforts from both the public and the government to ensure adequate and secure food supplies, especially considering Malaysia's significant reliance on food imports.

The MAHA 2026 exhibition aims to showcase advancements and facilitate knowledge exchange, contributing to the nation's goals of enhancing agricultural productivity and self-sufficiency. The increased international presence underscores the global interest in agricultural technology and the shared challenges in achieving food security.
