Maipú crime spree: Gang steals two cars, beats driver

A gang of criminals carried out two consecutive vehicle thefts in Maipú, Chile, on Tuesday night, brutally beating one of the drivers during the assault. The first robbery took place on the Autopista Américo Vespucio access road near a gas station in the El Rosal sector. The assailants intimidated and repeatedly struck the victim in the face before stealing his white vehicle.

Following the first theft, the gang used the stolen car to attempt a second robbery, this time a "car-jacking" at the intersection of Avenida Pajaritos and Américo Vespucio. They threatened the driver with firearms and blunt objects. Despite the threats, the man resisted the attack and attempted to discard his cell phone to prevent it from being stolen.

However, one of the criminals noticed the maneuver and seized the phone anyway. The gang then fled the scene in an unknown direction. Authorities are investigating the incidents, which have raised concerns about public safety in the Maipú commune.
