Major Delays at Oslo Central Station as Track Blockage Disrupts Main Line

Oslo Central Station experienced significant disruptions Friday afternoon, with over 100 deviations reported. Approximately 90 trains were delayed and 40 were canceled due to a train blocking the track between Oslo S and Lillestrøm.

The primary cause was a damaged overhead power line at Aker station, which also affected the train set. This incident led to single-track operation between Brobekk and Grorud. The affected train set has been removed, and efforts are underway to repair the overhead line. Bane Nor, the Norwegian National Rail Administration, has not provided an estimated time for the completion of repairs but promised an update at 4 PM.

For passengers affected by the disruptions, Bane Nor advised that those with Vy tickets could use the Flytoget airport express train on the affected route. This situation adds to existing travel complexities, as planned work between Oslo S and Lillestrøm, including the closure of the Romeriksporten tunnel, has been rerouting trains via Hovedbanen since June 27.
