Major General Trenggono Appointed Deputy Head of Indonesia's National Nutrition Agency

President Prabowo Subianto has appointed Major General TNI Trenggono as the new Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). The appointment, made Tuesday evening (June 2, 2026), is part of a significant leadership overhaul aimed at bolstering the agency's strategic programs.

Trenggono, a distinguished officer from the Indonesian Army's 1993 Military Academy graduating class, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He currently also serves as the Deputy President Director of PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara, where he has been involved in overseeing key government initiatives, including the development of the Village/Urban Village Red and White Cooperatives.

His military career has seen him hold various strategic positions within the Army, including Director of Studies and Development at the Army Command and Staff College (Seskoad) from 2024-2025 and Director of the Military Academy from 2023-2024. He also served as a Special Staff to the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces in 2025. These diverse roles have equipped Trenggono with expertise in organizational management, human resource development, and strategic planning.

The leadership changes at BGN extend beyond Trenggono's appointment. Nanik S. Deyang has been named the new Head of BGN, replacing Dadan Hindayana, and Agustina Arumsari is the new Deputy Head, succeeding Lodewijk Pusung. These appointments signify a comprehensive refresh of the agency's leadership, which has been operational for approximately 18 months.

Minister Secretary of State Prasetyo Hadi explained that the leadership changes followed the President's monitoring and evaluation of BGN's performance. The evaluation considered program implementation, input from relevant ministries, and public feedback. Prasetyo emphasized BGN's crucial role in supporting the government's agenda to improve public nutrition, requiring strong governance, effective cross-sectoral coordination, and capable leadership to ensure programs are executed efficiently and accountably.
