MAKI Demands KPK Commitment to Detain Suspects in CSR Fund Case

The Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) is pressing the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to fulfill its commitment and detain two suspects in a case involving alleged corruption of corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds from Bank Indonesia and the Financial Services Authority (OJK). The suspects, identified as Satori and Heri Gunawan, were officially named in August 2025, but MAKI coordinator Boyamin Saiman notes they have yet to be apprehended.

MAKI is awaiting concrete action from the KPK to detain the individuals, emphasizing that their continued freedom creates a lack of legal certainty for the case. "We are waiting for the KPK's action to detain Satori and Heri Gunawan. The suspects have not been detained until now. This results in no legal certainty," Boyamin stated.

The case originated from a report by the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) and public complaints. The KPK initiated a general investigation in December 2024 into alleged corruption related to the distribution of CSR funds, also known as the Bank Indonesia Social Program (PSBI) and Financial Services Facilitator (PJK) program, between 2020 and 2023.

During the investigation, KPK investigators searched several locations, including the Bank Indonesia building in Jakarta and the OJK office, to gather evidence. Satori and Heri Gunawan, both members of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Commission XI for the 2019-2024 and current 2024-2029 terms, were named suspects on August 7, 2025. MAKI's call for their detention highlights concerns about the pace of the investigation and the need for decisive action to ensure accountability.
