Malaysia: 20 areas record unhealthy air quality

Air quality in Malaysia has deteriorated, with 20 areas across the nation recording unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings by 11 AM. The System Pengurusan Indeks Pencemaran Udara Malaysia (APIMS) data highlights significant pollution levels in several regions.

Sarawak is particularly affected, with Sri Aman logging the highest API reading at 197. Serian is also experiencing poor air quality with a reading of 175. Three other locations in Sarawak, Sarikei (153), Kuching (142), and Miri (129), also fall into the unhealthy category.

The Klang Valley is also experiencing a haze, with two areas in Kuala Lumpur, Cheras (159) and Batu Muda (152), registering unhealthy levels. Putrajaya recorded an API of 147. In Selangor, Johan Setia (153), Shah Alam (152), and Petaling Jaya (126) are also affected.

Further north, Penang sees Seberang Perai (158), Minden (157), and Seberang Jaya (153) with unhealthy readings. In Perak, Taiping (155), Tasek Ipoh (138), and Seri Manjung (102) are impacted. Kedah's Sungai Petani (152) and Alor Setar (111) also reported unhealthy air quality. The situation in Negeri Sembilan's Seremban stands at 107.
