Malaysia Agriculture Expo Secures RM8 Billion in Memoranda of Understanding

The Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Exhibition (MAHA) 2026 has concluded, having facilitated 121 Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) collectively valued at approximately RM8 billion. These agreements signal significant potential for growth and collaboration within Malaysia's agricultural sector.

Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, highlighted that a substantial portion of these deals, around RM4 billion, involves partnerships with China. An equal amount, another RM4 billion, is attributed to collaborations with various other countries, underscoring the international reach of the exhibition.

The MoUs encompass a broad spectrum of cooperation, including the exchange of advanced technologies, the attraction of investment opportunities, the expansion of local product exports, and the development of crucial capacity-building and training programs. These initiatives are designed to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of Malaysia's agrifood industry.

International participation was robust, with delegations from 14 countries, including the United States, Russia, China, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, Kenya, Uzbekistan, Denmark, Hungary, the Netherlands, Spain, Thailand, and Palestine. This diverse representation provided a platform for Malaysia to strengthen international ties and showcase innovations from both domestic and foreign entities.

Minister Mohamad Sabu emphasized that the ministry aims for these signed MoUs to translate into tangible benefits, such as increased export sales and improved outcomes for local producers. He specifically encouraged opportunities for new agritech companies and startups to secure capital from both local and international investors, fostering innovation and economic development.
