Malaysia Expands Integrity Education Module for Young Children Nationwide

Malaysia is set to significantly expand its Children's Integrity Module (MIKa), aiming to reach over 31,000 kindergartens, nurseries, and preschools across the country by 2030. This initiative is expected to impact approximately 775,000 children aged two to six.

MIKa is a rebranding and comprehensive improvement of the Preschool Integrity Module (MIPS) introduced in 2016-2017 to systematically instill integrity values in early childhood education through positive character building from an early age.

The development of MIKa, which commenced in 2024, has garnered substantial support from 35 early childhood education experts. This collaborative effort is designed to fully align with and bolster the National Integrity Cultural Strategy (NIES). The module represents a comprehensive rebranding and enhancement of the Preschool Integrity Module (MIPS), first introduced between 2016 and 2017.

MIKa is developed in line with the Permata Negara Curriculum and the 2026 Preschool Curriculum.

MIKa's primary objective is to systematically embed integrity values and foster positive character development from the earliest stages of childhood. It is developed in accordance with Malaysia's Permata Negara Curriculum and the upcoming 2026 Preschool Curriculum. The module emphasizes core values such as speaking the truth, honesty, trustworthiness, responsibility, and mutual respect.

To ensure effective delivery, MIKa focuses on fostering basic values such as telling the truth, honesty, trustworthiness, responsibility, and respect.

To ensure effective delivery, MIKa includes a compilation of basic session guides (KomPAS) for educators, featuring activities like storytelling, singing, simulations, and art. Additionally, creative publications such as 12 storybooks, 12 songs, and dedicated music videos are part of the program's resources. The expansion of MIKa is supported by various government ministries, agencies, higher education institutions, and non-governmental organizations, reflecting a collective commitment to cultivating integrity from a young age.

The launch of MIKa is not just about introducing an educational module, but also a moral call to all Malaysians to collectively cultivate integrity so that it becomes a habit, a belief, and a practice starting from early childhood.
