Malaysia issues thunderstorm, heavy rain warnings for five states

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued warnings for thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds affecting multiple areas across five states and the capital, Kuala Lumpur. These adverse weather conditions are expected to occur throughout the afternoon.

Specific districts in Perak, including Muallim and Batang Padang, are under alert until 4 p.m. Similarly, Selangor districts like Hulu Langat and Kuala Lumpur are also expected to experience severe weather during this period. The warnings indicate a significant risk of intense rainfall and strong gusts.

Further alerts are in place for other parts of Perak, such as Manjung, Perak Tengah, Hilir Perak, and Bagan Datuk, as well as for Kedah districts including Kulim, Baling, Sik, and Pendang. In Selangor, the districts of Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Gombak, and Hulu Selangor are also included in the warnings, with these alerts extending until 5 p.m.

Pahang is also expected to face severe weather, with warnings issued for Cameron Highlands and Lipis from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. In Sabah, the affected areas include Sandakan (Tongod and Kinabatangan), Tawau (Lahad Datu), Pantai Barat (Ranau), and Pedalaman (Pensiangan), with these warnings valid until 5 p.m. Residents in these regions are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions.
