Malaysia PM Anwar urges security forces to vote for Pakatan Harapan in early election

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has called on members of the military, police, and their families to cast their ballots for Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the upcoming early polling on Tuesday.

Anwar described the early vote as a fundamental duty for citizens in a democratic nation that respects its constitutional institutions and the electoral process. "God willing, on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, our friends, families from the military and police will vote early," he said in a statement. "This is merely fulfilling our duty as citizens in a democracy that upholds constitutional institutions and the spirit of elections."

He emphasized that his government has strived to lead the country effectively and set policies, acknowledging that improvements are still possible. Anwar pointed to efforts made to enhance the welfare of military and police personnel, including improvements in salaries, basic facilities, housing, children's education, and parents' healthcare. The government has also focused on citizen aid programs like Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA).
