Malaysia Police Announce Transfer and Promotion of 26 Senior Officers

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has announced a significant reshuffling of its senior ranks, involving the transfer and promotion of 26 officers. Among the key figures affected is the Perlis Police Chief, Datuk Muhammad Abdul Halim, who has been appointed Deputy Director of Internal Security and Public Order (Operations) in the Internal Security and Public Order Department, with the rank of Commissioner of Police. He is scheduled to assume his new duties on August 3.

Several other senior officers have also been elevated. Datuk Mohd Taufik Toh Abdullah, formerly Chief Assistant Director of Special Branch Bukit Aman, is now the Deputy Director of Special Branch I, Bukit Aman. Datuk Mohamad Farouk Eshak, previously Chief Assistant Director of the Anti-Vice/Detention/Surveillance unit in the Criminal Investigation Department, has been appointed Deputy Director of Forensics/Strategic Planning in the same department, holding the acting rank of Deputy Commissioner.

Further promotions include two Senior Assistant Commissioners (SAC) being promoted to Deputy Commissioner (DCP). Datuk Mohd Azhar Hamin, Chief of the Sabah Community Policing and Crime Prevention Department, is now the Deputy Commissioner of Police for Sabah. Roslan Alias, Assistant Director of Special Branch Bukit Aman, has been appointed Chief Assistant Director of Special Branch Bukit Aman. The changes also see SAC Lim San Aik, Chief of Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department, appointed Chief of Sabah Community Policing and Crime Prevention Department. Additionally, 13 Assistant Commissioners (ACP) have been transferred and appointed as SACs, and seven Superintendents have been promoted to ACP.
