Malaysia's BN chairman thanks media for 'balanced' Johor election coverage

Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, chairman of Barisan Nasional (BN) and Deputy Prime Minister, has commended local media practitioners for their professional, fair, and balanced coverage during the recent Johor state election (PRN Johor). He expressed his gratitude for their role in promoting BN candidates and acknowledged that even negative coverage provided opportunities for response. "I thank you for the media practitioners who have played a very important role in promoting our candidates. Not to mention those who did the opposite, but we also thank them because with those issues, we can respond," Ahmad Zahid stated during a press conference. He specifically extended thanks to journalists from mainstream, electronic, and print media, noting that the coverage this time was "very balanced and very professional." He encouraged the continuation of this balanced reporting style in upcoming elections, including those in Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and the next general election (PRU). Ahmad Zahid highlighted the crucial role of social media in promoting candidates and expressed appreciation for its contribution, even when facing challenges. BN is utilizing the remaining campaign hours to connect with Johor voters returning from out of town to cast their ballots. "We will continue the campaign until 12 midnight, these are the final hours, this is our sprint to ensure BN candidates win in this Johor PRN," he said. Ahmad Zahid also emphasized BN's identity as a party committed to service, stating, "If we are sincere, God will be with us. BN is not a seasonal party; instead, BN is a political party that serves regardless of the season."
