Malaysian Armed Forces Showcase Combat Readiness in Large-Scale Firepower Exercise

The Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) have demonstrated their combat prowess and readiness through the extensive Firepower Exercise (LKT) 2026. This large-scale drill, held from June 19 to 30 at the Gemas Firing Range in Kem Syed Sirajuddin, aimed to showcase the capabilities of ATM's weapon systems across land, sea, and air domains.

The exercise involved around 2,500 personnel from all three branches of the ATM – the Army, Navy, and Air Force – as well as the Johor Military Forces (JMF). It provided participants, including students from the Malaysian Joint Command and Staff Course (KPSMB), with exposure to Combined Arms Manoeuvre concepts and highlighted the integrated operations of various assets.

According to the Army's Strategic Communications Branch (G2), LKT 2026 was designed to train and maintain personnel competency in large-scale live-fire exercises. It also served as a platform to test the Manual for Management and Execution of LKT 2026 in the field, ensuring procedural accuracy and effectiveness.

The exercise underscored the importance of integrated operations of strategic assets in realistic combat environments, reinforcing ATM's combat readiness. The successful execution of LKT 2026 demonstrated that national defense investments translate into enhanced operational capabilities and readiness, ultimately strengthening the nation's ability to defend its sovereignty. The event was observed by the Chief of Defence Force, General Tan Sri Malek Razak Sulaiman, and the Chief of Army, General Tan Sri Azhan Md. Othman.
