Malaysian badminton pairs falter in early rounds of China Open

The China Open badminton tournament saw an early exit for two Malaysian men's doubles pairs, Aaron Chia-Aaron Tai and Tee Kai Wun-Yap Roy King. Both pairs, recently formed after Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) reshuffled its top pairings, lost in the first round.

Aaron Chia and Aaron Tai, who have a nine-year age gap, were defeated in straight sets by the Indonesian world number 8 pair, Sabar Karyaman Guyana and Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani, with a score of 17-21, 19-21. The match lasted 38 minutes. The senior-junior pairing struggled with coordination, and Tai appeared nervous, making unforced errors that gifted points to their opponents.

In another match, Tee Kai Wun and Yap Roy King also fell in the first round, losing to fellow Malaysians Nur Mohd Azriyn Ayub Azriyn and Tan Wee Kiong 23-25, 17-21 in 36 minutes. This tournament is a crucial test for these new partnerships as they aim to find their rhythm and build chemistry on court. The reshuffled pairings are a significant move by BAM to optimize its player combinations for future competitions.
