Malaysian Football Observer Calls for New Leadership at FAM

Malaysian football faces a call for significant leadership change within the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM). Local football observer Datuk Dr. Pekan Ramli insists that the association must bring in a new set of leaders, arguing that the current administration has repeatedly failed.

Ramli stated that the issues plaguing FAM have persisted for too long under the same leadership. "What happened in FAM before has happened for a long time, so don't try to fix it again. It's best to just leave," he urged. He believes that the FAM congress should select clean leaders and give new faces a chance, regardless of their titles, to steer the organization forward.

His remarks come in the wake of a comprehensive audit report by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The report, presented by AFC Deputy Secretary General Vahid Kardany at an extraordinary FAM congress, exposed various systemic flaws in FAM's governance, accountability, and organizational management. Ramli emphasized that leadership reform must be thorough to restore confidence in FAM and elevate Malaysian football.
