Male Floating Body Discovered in Tainan Drainage Canal

Authorities in Tainan City, Taiwan, are investigating the discovery of a male body floating in a drainage canal in the Beimen District. The grim find was reported by a member of the public around 2 PM on August 15, prompting an immediate response from emergency services.

Firefighters from the Beimen Fire Station, part of the Third Rescue and Relief Brigade of the Tainan City Fire Bureau, were dispatched to the scene. Utilizing a rescue boat, they navigated the Jishui River and a tributary canal to locate the "drifting object" reported by locals.

The body, believed to be a man in his 60s, was found in the upper reaches of the canal in the Xinwei section of Beimen District. After being retrieved from the water, the body was handed over to the Xuejia Police Precinct for further investigation.

Preliminary examination revealed no obvious external injuries on the deceased. Identification documents were found on the body, but there were no reports of a missing person matching the description. Police suspect the body may have drifted from further upstream. The investigation is ongoing to determine the individual's identity and the precise cause of death.
