Man Allegedly Kept Father's Body in Freezer for Pension in Greece

A disturbing case has emerged in Mystras, Greece, where authorities are investigating a 55-year-old man suspected of keeping his father's body in a freezer for an extended period. The alleged motive behind this macabre act was to continue collecting the deceased's pension payments. This revelation came to light following the discovery of the elderly man's body in a freezer within a hotel property.

The father received part of his wife's pension after her death, which, in my estimation, was a financial motive for this act.

According to Georgios Kalliakmanis, honorary president of the Police Officers' Union, the suspect may have been driven by financial gain. The deceased father was reportedly receiving his own pension, as well as a portion of his late wife's pension. This continued financial benefit is considered a significant economic incentive for the suspect's actions.

Kalliakmanis suggested that the decision to place the body in a freezer was not random. It was likely a calculated move to obscure the exact time of death. This tactic would allow the suspect to present the death as recent, potentially just one or two days prior, should any complications or investigations arise. The suspect apparently did not bury his father because he feared future repercussions or that the deceased might be sought.
