Man arrested after chase ends with stolen van in ditch in Montevideo's Marconi neighborhood

A police chase in Montevideo concluded with the arrest of a suspect and the recovery of a stolen van, which ended up in a ditch. The incident took place in the Marconi neighborhood, an area that has recently been the scene of significant violence.

According to reports, police pursued the stolen vehicle, which was eventually abandoned by the suspect in a roadside ditch. Officers apprehended the individual a short distance from the abandoned van. The vehicle was found on Rambla Costanera and Gregorio Perez, not far from where previous shooting incidents have been reported.

The Marconi neighborhood has been a focal point for police activity due to a series of violent events. Earlier in the week, police responded to a shooting that left one man in critical condition, who later died. Another shooting occurred the following day in the same area.

In a separate but related operation on Tuesday, police arrested three men in Marconi after identifying a house used for live-streaming on TikTok, where a firearm was displayed. A drone was used to monitor the suspects before police entered the property and made the arrests. The weapon shown in the video was not found at the scene.
