Man arrested for allegedly killing landlord over deposit dispute

Police in Masan Dongbu, Gyeongnam, have arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of attempted murder for allegedly beating his landlord to death during a dispute over a security deposit. The suspect, identified as A, is accused of assaulting the 80-year-old landlord, B, on August 8th.

The incident occurred around 5:20 PM in a multi-family home in Masan Hoewon-gu, Changwon City. According to reports, the altercation began when the landlord refused to return the security deposit. The suspect allegedly responded by repeatedly striking the elderly landlord with his fists and feet.

Following the assault, the suspect himself called the emergency services at 5:27 PM. Police arrived at the scene shortly after, apprehending suspect A as a suspect in the attempted murder case at 5:40 PM. During initial questioning, A confessed to the crime and was taken into custody on August 10th.

The victim, landlord B, was transported to a hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries on August 12th around 7:13 PM. Authorities plan to change the charges against suspect A from attempted murder to murder following an autopsy of the victim.
