Man arrested for driving in Seoul after using methamphetamine

A 50-year-old man has been arrested and sent to prosecutors for driving in downtown Seoul while under the influence of methamphetamine. The man, identified as A, faces charges related to violating the Narcotics Control Act and traffic laws.

Police initially responded to a report of suspected drunk driving on the evening of July 4th in the Jayang-dong area of Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. Upon arrival, they apprehended A as a suspect. A preliminary drug test administered by the police indicated a positive result for narcotics, and substances suspected to be drugs were found inside his vehicle.

The Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office has taken custody of A, who was formally arrested and sent to prosecutors on July 23rd. A court had previously issued an arrest warrant for A on July 7th, citing concerns about his potential to flee and tamper with evidence. The case highlights ongoing issues with drug use and impaired driving in the capital.
