Man Arrested for Ex-Girlfriend's Murder Despite Stalking Complaint and Restraining Order

A 50-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend to death with a knife, despite her having previously reported him for stalking and secured a restraining order. The victim had been provided with a panic button by the police for her safety.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday morning in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province. According to police, the suspect, identified as Mr. A, ambushed the victim, Ms. B, in her 60s, in an alleyway as she was returning home from work. A passerby reported the attack, and emergency services transported Ms. B to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Following the attack, Mr. A reportedly inflicted self-harm with the same knife and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Police have stated that Mr. A and Ms. B were in a past relationship. Investigators believe the suspect targeted Ms. B during her commute home. Ms. B had filed a stalking complaint against Mr. A with the police last month. In response, authorities issued a restraining and no-contact order against him and provided Ms. B with a panic button.
