Man arrested for fifth time as modified motorcycle seized

A man in Kuala Lumpur has been arrested for the fifth time after his motorcycle was seized due to extreme modifications. The 20-something self-employed individual has repeatedly had his motorcycles confiscated since last year for similar offenses.

We found that the man performed extreme modifications, including no rear brake, octopus tires, engine modifications, and it was believed to be used for racing and personal satisfaction.

According to Datuk Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan, Senior Director of Enforcement at the Road Transport Department (JPJ), the four previously seized motorcycles belonged to the man, his uncle, aunt, and father. The latest confiscated bike was registered to his younger sister.

Investigations revealed that the modifications included the absence of a rear brake, "octopus tires" (likely referring to non-standard tires), and engine alterations. Authorities believe the motorcycles were used for racing and personal satisfaction. JPJ is pursuing forfeiture of all five vehicles.

JPJ urged riders with excessively modified motorcycles to cease such dangerous practices, emphasizing the risks to their own lives and other road users. The department also called on all motorcycle owners and riders to ensure their vehicles are in safe condition and comply with established specifications and regulations, noting that non-compliant modifications are illegal and compromise road safety.
