Psychiatric report pending for student accused of stabbing classmate

A Malaysian court has scheduled September 22 for the next hearing in the case of a teenage student accused of stabbing a classmate. The proceedings at the Magistrate's Court in Kuala Langat were set after it was confirmed that the psychiatric report for the 15-year-old suspect has not yet been obtained.

The accused student was not present during the hearing. The court had previously ordered the student to undergo a month of psychiatric evaluation and treatment at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta in Perak. This order was issued by the Magistrate's Court in Telok Datok on July 10, following the indictment of the student.

The incident occurred on July 6, when police arrested a third-form female student on suspicion of stabbing her classmate at a secondary school in Banting. The alleged stabbing took place between 9:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. The student, who reportedly has autism, was subsequently remanded for four days by the same court to assist in the investigation.

The case is being handled by the court sitting as a Juvenile Court. The ongoing delay in obtaining the psychiatric report means the legal proceedings are on hold until further evaluation of the suspect's mental state can be completed and presented to the court.
