Man Arrested in Asunción for Posing as Delivery Customer to Rob Drivers

Police in Asunción have arrested a 30-year-old man suspected of threatening delivery drivers with a knife and stealing their merchandise. The suspect allegedly employed a consistent modus operandi: ordering items, pretending to make a bank transfer, and then threatening the delivery person to leave without payment.

In the most recent incident, the man allegedly ordered a blender and an electric hot plate. When the delivery driver arrived, the suspect brandished a knife, demanding the driver leave the products and depart. The driver managed to escape and alert the police, who were conducting patrols in the area. Officers pursued the suspect into the Kambala neighborhood and apprehended him.

During the investigation, police recovered the stolen appliances and a pair of lilac roller skates. These items are believed to have been obtained using the same method in an earlier incident. In that case, a woman identified as Silvia Aguayo had ordered the roller skates, reportedly for her son's urgent use.

Both victims identified the arrested man as the perpetrator. The police have linked the two cases due to the identical method used. Authorities also identified a minor present at the suspect's residence who may have collaborated in the scheme.
