Man Detained After Damaging Printer in Hospital Emergency Room Over Treatment Delay

A 37-year-old man caused a significant disturbance at the Emergency Reception Unit (UPU) of the Botoșani County Hospital on Saturday, damaging a printer. The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. when the man, who had sustained a head injury, became enraged over what he perceived as a lack of priority in receiving medical attention.

According to local reports, the patient became physically aggressive, allegedly attempting to assault staff and damaging equipment. Police confirmed the destruction of a printer and stated that the man's behavior disrupted public order and dignity. He was quickly identified by responding officers.

Initially, police opened a criminal case for destruction of property. However, investigations were expanded to include disturbing public order, and the man was detained for 24 hours. Authorities noted that his actions negatively impacted the dignity of those involved and disturbed the peace.

This incident is not isolated. In 2024, a patient at the Vaslui County Emergency Hospital caused a similar scene, destroying medical equipment, furniture, and medications. Earlier this year, a patient at the Săpoca Psychiatric Hospital became violent, assaulting two staff members who required medical treatment elsewhere.
