Man Detained in Mersin Market After Alleged Assault on Child

An incident of alleged child assault occurred in a market in the Akdeniz district of Mersin, Turkey, when a man, identified as M.E., reportedly pursued four children into the store. According to reports, M.E. entered the market and apprehended one of the children, Mehmet Ali D., amidst the store's aisles, subsequently assaulting him.

Video footage of the alleged assault circulated widely on social media platforms. This public sharing prompted swift action from the Mersin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, which initiated an investigation. The Akdeniz District Police Department teams responded by detaining the suspect, M.E.

Mehmet Ali D. was taken to a hospital for medical treatment. His condition is reported to be stable. Following the incident, AKP Mersin Provincial Deputy Ali Kıratlı visited the young victim at the hospital to offer his well wishes and presented him with a gift. The suspect's legal proceedings are ongoing at the police department.
