Man dies following fall from Mississauga condo, SIU investigating

A 35-year-old man died after falling from a Mississauga condominium on Wednesday while Peel Regional Police officers were at the scene.

Peel police responded to reports of a man in distress at a condo building on Kingsbridge Garden Circle around 10 a.m. According to the Special Investigation Unit (SIU), officers entered the man's unit and attempted to negotiate with him before he fell from a high floor.

The man was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Because Peel police officers were present at the time of the man's death, the SIU has invoked its mandate to investigate the incident.

The SIU, a civilian oversight agency, has assigned three investigators and one forensic investigator to the case. A post-mortem examination is scheduled for Friday. The agency is asking for anyone with information, including photos or videos, to contact investigators. The circumstances surrounding the man's death remain undetermined.
