Man dies in Emboscada truck-car collision

A violent traffic accident on August 10, 2026, in Emboscada, Cordillera, resulted in the death of a 50-year-old man. The fatal crash occurred around 1:00 PM on Route PY03, involving a Kia Soluto and a Scania R420 truck loaded with approximately 27,000 kilos of leather. The victim, identified as Hugo Rafael Meza Medina, was driving the car and was trapped inside after the impact, dying at the scene. The truck driver, Lorenzo Alberto Portillo Rojas, 56, sustained injuries and received medical attention. Police from the 6th Precinct of Emboscada responded to the scene. They found the truck overturned in a ditch, while the car was on the roadside. Representatives from the Public Ministry, a forensic doctor, and personnel from Criminalistics Regional Cordillera were also present to conduct procedures and collect evidence. The investigation is ongoing to clarify the circumstances of the accident and establish the corresponding responsibilities.
