Man dies of heatstroke in Incheon amid prolonged heatwave

A severe heatwave has gripped South Korea, leading to the country's first heat-related death this year. In Incheon, a 40-year-old man was found wandering without a shirt and suffering from a high fever, reaching 38.8 degrees Celsius.

Emergency services transported him to a nearby hospital, where his body temperature continued to climb to a critical 41.3 degrees Celsius. Despite receiving treatment, he passed away approximately 22 hours after admission. Doctors diagnosed his death as acute kidney injury resulting from heatstroke.

The extreme heat has also claimed another suspected victim in Busan. A 70-year-old man was discovered unresponsive in a field, and despite resuscitation efforts during transport to the hospital, he could not be saved. The prolonged heatwave continues to pose a significant public health risk across the nation.
