Man fatally stabbed in Córdoba after confronting thief over niece's stolen bike

A violent crime has shaken Córdoba, Argentina, where a 30-year-old construction worker, Lucas Tissera, was fatally stabbed while trying to recover his niece's stolen bicycle. The incident occurred on August 5 in the Cooperativa Los Paraísos neighborhood.

Tissera was reportedly walking with the bicycle, taking it for repairs, when an assailant intercepted him and stole it. When Tissera attempted to retrieve the bike and confronted the thief, the aggressor reacted violently, drawing a large knife and attacking him. A witness captured the confrontation on video.

The footage shows Tissera attempting to de-escalate the situation, backing away with his hands raised. However, the attacker approached and quickly inflicted a stab wound to the back of Tissera's neck. The victim was rushed to Florencio Díaz Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities apprehended the suspect shortly after, aided by local security cameras. The alleged assailant was found to have a minor cut on his neck. While initial reports suggested a general dispute, Tissera's family clarified the circumstances, emphasizing that he was defending his niece's property. The investigation is ongoing, with the District 2 Prosecutor's Office leading the inquiry into the event's mechanics and the suspect's responsibilities.
