Man Fires 13 Shots at Taichung Office Building After Toast Dispute; Surrenders in Miaoli

The incident occurred around 5 a.m. on July 24, shattering the glass door of the office building and leaving numerous shell casings scattered at the scene.

The suspect, identified by his surname Rao, reportedly fled the scene after the altercation and drove to Miaoli to surrender to the police. He allegedly told investigators that he felt disrespected during the toast, leading to a loss of face and an impulsive decision to return and fire his weapon in anger. The motive appears to be rooted in a perceived slight during the gathering.

Authorities have taken Rao into custody and are investigating the case under charges related to firearms and intimidation. The Taichung District Prosecutor's Office is directing the investigation, which includes ballistics analysis, evidence collection, and a thorough examination of the identities of all individuals present at the establishment during the incident.
