Man Found Dead in Burning Car in Portadown

Police in Portadown are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man discovered inside a car engulfed in flames on Saturday night. The fire, reported around 10 p.m. in the Harford Street area, prompted an emergency response from firefighters who extinguished the blaze.

Sadly, we can confirm the body of a man who was located inside the vehicle. He was pronounced deceased at the scene and a post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course to determine the cause of death.

Ammunition technical officers also attended the scene to conduct inquiries, assuring the public there was no ongoing risk. The car sustained significant damage, and a neighboring property suffered broken windows and scorch marks. The body of the man was found within the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The circumstances surrounding what happened are still under investigation and inquiries are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death. Detectives are actively investigating the cause of the fire and the events leading up to the man's death, appealing for anyone with information or who witnessed anything in the area to contact them.
