Man Found Dead in River Was Murdered, Danish Police Confirm

Midt- and West Jutland Police have confirmed that a man discovered deceased in the Gudenå river on Monday was the victim of homicide. The body was found shortly before 4:30 PM near Brovejen, north of Svostrup, by a passerby.

Now that we are no longer in doubt that we are dealing with a murder case, we are naturally satisfied that we have not taken any chances but proceeded so thoroughly from the start and secured any traces both in water and on land.

Following the discovery, police secured the scene and collected evidence both on land and in the water. Initial suspicions of foul play grew stronger as investigations progressed through the night. An autopsy performed on Tuesday solidified the conclusion that the man had been killed, according to a police press release.

We have an important task now in identifying the man. We would very much like to hear if anyone is missing or has seen a man in the area who matches the description.

The victim remains unidentified. He is described as approximately 30-40 years old, 165 centimeters tall, slender, with short dark hair and short beard stubble. He was wearing light-colored shorts with vertical stripes. Police are appealing to the public for any information regarding missing persons matching this description or any witnesses who may have been in the Brovejen area on Monday or over the weekend, emphasizing that even seemingly insignificant details could be crucial to the investigation.
