Man identified for throwing rock that shattered car windshield on Vietnam expressway

A man in Vietnam has been identified by police for throwing a rock that shattered a car's windshield on the Hanoi-Hai Phong Expressway. The incident occurred on July 30 when a driver was traveling at high speed between 90 and 120 km/h.

The car was suddenly hit by a rock from the overpass.

A rock, described as fist-sized, struck the vehicle, piercing the windshield near the driver's seat. The driver was startled and pulled over to the emergency lane for safety.

Authorities quickly investigated and identified the suspect as N.V.H., a 32-year-old resident of Hai Phong. He admitted to picking up the stone and throwing it from an overpass onto the highway below.

The rock penetrated the driver's side windshield, startling the driver.

Officials confirmed the suspect tested negative for drugs and has no prior criminal record. However, his relatives and neighbors reported he has shown signs of depression since 2020. Police are continuing their investigation to process the case according to the law.
