Man in critical condition after violent assault in Dublin’s north inner city

A man is in critical condition after a violent assault in Dublin's north inner city late Monday night. The victim, in his 30s, did not receive medical attention for several hours despite sustaining serious injuries. The incident occurred around 11:40 p.m. on Foley Street, off Talbot Street. Gardaí investigating the attack have arrested a man in his 30s for questioning. He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Dublin Garda station. Police are following a definite line of inquiry. The victim was taken to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital at 2:00 a.m. and remains in critical condition. Store Street Garda station is leading the investigation and has appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. They are particularly interested in speaking with individuals who were in the Foley Street, Talbot Street, and James Joyce Street areas between 11:30 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. on Monday night and Tuesday morning. Gardaí are especially seeking anyone who may have recorded video footage, including dashcam recordings.
