Man Sent to Prosecutors for Allegedly Defrauding Patients at Korean Medicine Hospitals

A man in his 40s has been sent to prosecutors in custody after allegedly checking himself into several Korean medicine hospitals in Busan and defrauding patients.

Police accuse him of taking about 45 million won from four patients between May and June. He allegedly approached them after being admitted for back pain and asked to borrow money, promising to repay it immediately, or claimed he needed money for a settlement. He then disappeared.

Police also allege that he told another patient he liked the person's bracelet and wanted to photograph it before returning it. The man allegedly took the gold bracelet, valued at about 16 million won, and fled.

Officers said they tracked him by visiting Korean medicine hospitals in the area and arrested him after conducting surveillance. Police transferred him to prosecutors on suspected theft and fraud charges.
