Man Sentenced to 15 Years for Sexually Abusing 6-Year-Old Stepdaughter in Paraguay

A man in Ciudad del Este has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for the sexual abuse of his 6-year-old stepdaughter. The conviction was handed down by a Sentencing Tribunal presided over by Judge Evangelina Villalba, alongside judges Lourdes Morínigo and Flavia Recalde.

Prosecutor Julia González presented substantial evidence that firmly established both the commission of the crime and the accused's criminal responsibility. The court found that the sexual abuse incidents took place within the family home in Ciudad del Este during 2022. At the time, the victim was only six years old. The perpetrator exploited moments when the child was left alone in his care, while her mother was away at work. He reportedly used constant threats to ensure the girl's silence.

Following a formal complaint, the Public Ministry initiated investigative proceedings that led to the suspect's arrest. The aggressor was subsequently formally prosecuted, culminating in the 15-year prison sentence. In accordance with Article 29 of the Code of Childhood and Adolescence, the names of the convicted individual and other identifying details have been omitted to protect the victim's identity.
