A man in his 40s has been sentenced to one year in prison for defrauding an elderly person of 30 million won. The court found the defendant guilty of computer-related fraud, noting his exploitation of the victim's difficulty with smartphone use. The incident occurred between March 26 and 28 of last year in Naju, Jeollanam-do.

The 76-year-old victim had asked the defendant for help with setting up a public certificate, explaining that their age made internet use difficult. The defendant, after receiving the victim's smartphone, transferred 30 million won from the victim's account without consent and then cut off contact.
