Man shoots and kills wife, mistaking her for a wolf, then released

In a tragic incident in the village of Meşeli, Elazığ province, a man fatally shot his wife after mistaking her for a wolf in the darkness. The man, identified only as M.K., had reportedly taken up a rifle to guard their sheepfold due to concerns about a wolf entering the enclosure.

According to initial reports, M.K. perceived movement in the dark and fired his weapon, inadvertently striking his 51-year-old wife, Hasret K., who was a mother of three. She died from her injuries at the scene.

Following the shooting, M.K. was taken into custody by gendarmerie forces. An investigation was launched by the Elazığ Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. After completing the necessary procedures at the gendarmerie station, he was transferred to the courthouse.

A court subsequently ordered his release under judicial control, meaning he must adhere to certain conditions while the investigation or legal proceedings continue. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community.
