Man Shot in Paraguay Detained Due to Outstanding Warrants

A man sustained multiple gunshot wounds during an attack late Sunday night at a volleyball court in Santa Rosa del Aguaray, Paraguay. The victim, identified as Hernán Bordón Blanco, 35, was hospitalized but is now under police guard.

Bordón Blanco faces two active arrest warrants: one for alleged domestic violence and another for alleged cattle rustling. He was taken to the General Hospital of Santa Rosa del Aguaray for treatment and remains under police custody.

The incident occurred around 11:00 PM on August 23, 2026, in the Tacuatí district of San Pedro department. According to initial police reports, two men on a motorcycle, both wearing helmets, arrived at the scene and opened fire on Bordón Blanco without provocation.

During the attack, Delia Carolina Benítez Giménez, who was present at the location, was hit by a stray bullet and also required medical attention. Both victims were transported to the hospital. Forensics and investigators are collecting evidence to identify the perpetrators and determine the motive behind the shooting.
