Man stabbed his father, then alleged he suffered abuse during childhood

A 27-year-old man was detained after allegedly attacking his 80-year-old father with a knife at a home in Minga Guazú, leaving the older man with several serious injuries.

Police launched a search after receiving information about the attack and located the suspect in the area. During his arrest, he admitted stabbing his father and said he had problems with drug addiction.

He initially attributed the repeated conflicts between them to his father’s previous complaints against him. Later, at the Public Prosecutor’s Office, he gave a different account of what led to the attack.

The detainee alleged that his father had sexually abused him during childhood and that the episodes had affected their relationship for years. “I do not forget that he abused me. I confronted him and he was not ashamed, but since I was a child he entered my room. I am a man and he treated me like a woman,” he said.

He also claimed that memories of the alleged abuse continued to affect him and were linked to their frequent arguments. The allegations must be investigated and corroborated by authorities. His account also included inconsistencies, including a claim that he would feel safer in prison because members of his own family had supposedly sold his organs and were planning to kill him.

The suspect had outstanding arrest warrants in a serious robbery case and a domestic violence case. He also had previous records for aggravated robbery in 2016 and robbery in 2023.
