Man suffers multiple organ failure after following AI diet plan for 45 days

A 34-year-old man in China suffered multiple organ failure after adhering to an artificial intelligence-generated diet and exercise plan for 45 days. Identified only as Chen, he managed to lose 20 kilograms (44 pounds) during this period but ended up in intensive care due to his body's inability to function properly.

Chen, who resided in Qingdao, had a history of unhealthy eating habits, consuming oily and salty foods, and irregular sleep patterns due to frequent overtime work, which led to his weight reaching 120 kilograms (265 pounds). Recognizing the need for both weight loss and health improvement, he turned to AI for a solution.

The AI proposed a 'high-intensity diet' plan tailored to his eating habits and physical condition. This involved a rigorous daily routine of climbing stairs for 1.5 hours and playing badminton 2-3 times a week. He pushed himself through workouts, often drenched in sweat, and meticulously tracked his progress with a smartwatch to meet daily goals. His diet was also severely restricted, with breakfast typically consisting of two eggs, half a steamed bun (mantou), and milk.
