Man Threatens to Shoot Police Officers: Large Operation in Vienna

A 42-year-old man was apprehended in Vienna after threatening to shoot police officers during a domestic dispute, prompting a significant police response.

The incident began when the man, following an argument with his former partner about their relationship ending, allegedly made threats against her and then stated his intention to "shoot police officers." He subsequently left the family home on Wagramer Straße.

Given the uncertainty about whether the suspect was armed, police initiated extensive search operations. A drone equipped with a thermal imaging camera successfully located the man hiding behind a residential building. He was taken into preliminary custody around 3:50 a.m. and was found to be unarmed at the time of his arrest. However, police reportedly found suspected narcotics in his possession.

During a search of the man's residence, officers discovered and secured a long firearm that was not properly stored, along with ammunition. Authorities have since issued a restraining order and a temporary weapons ban against the 42-year-old.
