Man who tried to stop kebab shop attacker dies from injuries in Adana

Adana, Turkey – A 31-year-old man who intervened in an armed attack at a kebab restaurant in Adana has died from his injuries. Samet Aksoy was shot and critically wounded while attempting to apprehend one of the assailants.

The incident occurred recently in the Güzelyalı neighborhood. According to reports, two masked suspects arrived on a motorcycle. One suspect opened fire with a Kalashnikov rifle at individuals inside the restaurant, while the other fired a pistol. The targeted individuals were identified as E.Ç., H.S., K.E., and B.Y., who were injured in the attack.

As the assailants attempted to flee on their motorcycle, Samet Aksoy, who worked at a hotel across the street, intervened. He was shot during the confrontation and sustained severe injuries. The suspects managed to escape the scene.

Aksoy was taken to the hospital for treatment but succumbed to his wounds overnight. Following an autopsy, his body was released to his family for burial. The four other individuals injured in the attack are reportedly still receiving medical care. Police have detained numerous suspects as part of their ongoing investigation into the shooting.
