Three Arrested in Izmir for Criminal Organization Propaganda on Social Media

Izmir, Turkey – An operation targeting the propaganda of criminal organizations on social media has resulted in three arrests in Izmir. The Izmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office initiated an investigation into social media posts that allegedly legitimized, praised, or encouraged the violent methods of criminal groups. Following the investigation, nine suspects were detained in simultaneous raids across the city. Authorities stated that the suspects aimed to foster sympathy for criminal organizations, amplify their intimidating presence, and encourage criminal activity and offenders through their online posts. The operation was carried out by the Provincial Police Department's Anti-Organized Crime Branch. After undergoing police procedures, three of the detained suspects were brought before the court and subsequently arrested. The remaining six suspects were released under judicial control, meaning they must adhere to specific conditions set by the court. The investigation and subsequent arrests underscore the authorities' efforts to combat the spread of criminal ideology and influence online.
