Manjil of Jumla wins first place in National Poetry Competition

Hem Prakash Manjil, hailing from Jumla, has clinched the top honor at a national poetry competition held in Bhimphedi Rural Municipality. His winning entry, a poem titled "Chhute Pachhi Desh," captivated the judges and secured him the first prize, which included a cash award of Rs 50,000.

The competition was organized by the Bhimphedi Rural Municipality as part of its commemoration of writer Tulsi Thapa's memorial day. Poets from across the nation presented their works, exploring themes of patriotism, contemporary societal issues, and human emotions. Suman Ghimire of Sarlahi secured the second position with his poem "Ma Desh Kasari Banaun?" and received Rs 30,000, while Yograj Paudel from Jhapa took third place for "Matrigatha," earning Rs 20,000.

Consolation prizes of Rs 10,000 each were awarded to Chetana Sharma of Kathmandu for "Rato Canvas" and Dhiraj Nath of Kanchanpur for "Bagaicha." The prizes were distributed by Bhimphedi Rural Municipality Chairperson Hidam Lama. The event also included the unveiling of a half-length statue of writer Tulsi Thapa at Shree Krishna Secondary School.
