Maros hospital prepares to operate Rp30 billion heart catheterization lab

A catheterization laboratory worth about 30 billion rupiah is ready at RSUD La Palaloi in Maros, but patients will have to wait before the new facility can begin treating them.

The hospital is still securing an operating permit and preparing a trained medical team. Doctors have completed a one-year fellowship program in China, while nursing staff are undergoing an intensive three-month program at Hasan Sadikin Hospital in Bandung. Hospital director Sri Syamsinar Rachmah said the team needs about three months of specialized training to operate equipment of this complexity.

The new service is intended to eliminate the need for many Maros residents to travel to Makassar for interventional heart procedures, including stent and balloon treatments. Local officials say keeping the service at RSUD La Palaloi will shorten referrals and preserve valuable time during the emergency treatment window.
