MAS Warriors wins 40 podium finishes and puts Paraguay on top in Brazil

Paraguay’s colors stood out again on the international martial arts circuit as MAS Warriors collected 40 podium finishes at the MAS International in Camboriú, Santa Catarina.

The Pan-American championship took place on Aug. 29 at the Sibara Hotel Convention Center, bringing together athletes from several countries and martial arts disciplines. Paraguayan competitors won 25 individual events, finished second in 10 and took third place in three others. They also secured two runner-up finishes in team sparring.

The medals went to Valentina Bareiro, David Campuzano, Leonardo Delfino, Valentina Fernández, Fabricio Krauer, Carlos Leimbacher, Macarena Recalde and Milena Recalde. Their performance reflects a training process that has continued for roughly a decade under instructor Angelike Augsten, an international competitor who holds world and Pan-American titles.

MAS Warriors trains athletes for national and international competition across forms, sparring, combat, weapons and breaking. The delegation’s activities in Brazil continued on Aug. 30 with a training session, seminar and technical update alongside Grand Master César Ozuna, president and founder of Martial Arts System. Augsten, Campuzano, Delfino, Krauer and Milena Recalde attended the session, which focused on updated techniques and new material for advanced competitors. Ozuna was recently recognized by Paraguay’s National Congress for his career and contribution to the country’s martial arts development.
